Now that early spring is greeting us, we should be starting our planting. Such plants as peas, lettuce, onions, cabbage, broccoli, spinach, and kale should be on your list to get started on. Since the temperature outside is still cold at times it's best to start these plants indoors. At the early stages from seed most plants or crops don't require much light to get them growing (Seedling stage). A simple light set up can produce healthy growth giving your plants a great start to the season. During this time by starting them indoors can help eliminate the dangers of temperatures dipping to low stressing them out which could stop the progress of their growth in turn resulting in them dying off. One method of starting them off would be to use plastic cups but there are many ways to start your seedling, Cutting holes or poking holes in the bottom will allow roots to breath when they get established. Your lighting should be no more than 10-15 watts per square foot. L.E.Ds should be between 20-40 watts per square feet.
